Apple Crisp…Healthy Recipe Makeover


1/2 cup Whole Wheat flour (can also use white)
1/2 cup old fashioned oats (not instant)
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp cinnamon
3 tbsp butter, softened
6 med-large  apples or peeled and thinly sliced
1 tbsp butter, melted
Light vanilla bean ice cream  (Breyers light is all natural) or frozen yogurt(optional)


  • Heat oven to 375 F.  Coat 10×6 deep baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
  • Arrange apples in dish. Mix first 6 ingredients until crumbly and sprinkle over apples.  Drizzle melted butter evenly over topping.
  • Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until tender.
  • Serve warm with ice cream.
